Manuel Serra Nunes
My name is Manuel and I’m a PhD student at the Computer and Robot Vision Laboratory - VisLab - at Técnico Lisboa.
In my research, I focus on enabling robots to learn from the world as human infants do, inspired by studies in developmental psychology.
I’m interested in studying cognition from an enactive, embodied perspective, centred on Reinforcement Learning, World Models, Intrinsic Motivation, Open-ended Learning and how these may lead to the emergence of altruistic behaviour in robots.
In my free time I find myself watching any sports I find on TV, cycling or running around the city, learning about politics and dreaming about meeting different cultures all over the world.
Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to discuss anything related to my research!
